A prolific hip-hop icon
If you’re a hip-hop fan, then the name Tyga should be more than familiar. Tyga is an American hip-hop artist who has produced numerous hits since his debut back in 2007. After releasing numerous demos, he finally scored a record deal under independent label DCD2 Records with the release of his "Young on Probation" mixtape. Tyga eventually was able to release a full-length studio album in 2008, entitled "No Introduction". The album’s lead single, "Coconut Juice", featuring Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes, landed at No. 94 on 2008’s US Billboard Hot 100. "Diamond Life", another single from same album, was used as a soundtrack for video games. The same song was also used in the movie "Fighting". In the succeeding years, Tyga was able to release more albums and produce many more hits. He has also collaborated with many big-name artists such as Justin Bieber, Chris Brown and 50 Cent, to name just a few. After a series of successful album releases, Tyga’s album "Kyoto", which was released in 2018, failed to meet expectations – it was the first of his albums not to break into any charts. Tyga was eventually able to make a comeback hit in the very the same year with the release of the single "Taste". The song was a massive success, landing the No. 8 spot on the US Billboard Hot 100. The song was also certified four-times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
A multi-awarded artist
Aside from music, Tyga has also appeared in some films and television series such as "Mac and Devin Go to High School", "Once Upon a Time in Venice", "Barbershop: The Next Cut" and "Scream". His award wins and nominations include the Grammy and BET Awards in 2011, the MTV Europe Music Awards and American Music Awards in 2012, and the World Music Awards in 2014.
