Established in 1977 along with the Seattle Mariners as an expansion franchise, the team didn't have their first winning season until 1983 but then two years later they won their first division title in 1985. They are the second time to have been based outside the USA and are currently the only team currently playing in MLB to be based abroad after the Montreal Expos became the Washington Nationals.
Toronto Blue Jays History
It didn't take the Jays long to start experiencing success on the field. The late 1980s and early 1990s were periods of great success for the Canadian team. Between 1985 and 1993 the team won 5 East Division titles (185, 1989, 1991, 1992 and 1993), back-to-back World Series (1992 and 1993), becoming the first non-US team to win a World Series, they also bagged two American League Pennants (1992 and 1993). The Blue Jays also won the American League East Division in 2015. With hitters like Josh Donaldson and Jose Bautista on the roster, you can always expect fireworks and who knows how much more success the team will have.
