Tampa Bay Rays
The Tampa Bay Rays are one of MLB's newest franchises, joining the American League East Division in 1998. After a slow start to life in MLB (they didn't post their first winning season until 2008) they are now a team to be reckoned and have played in one World Series (2008) and gained postseason births in 2010, 2011 and 2013. You can get Tampa Bay Rays tickets here at StubHub for your chance to see the franchise play and see if they can get back into the playoffs.
Tampa Bay Rays History
It took a long time but Tampa Bay finally had a franchise in 1998 after nearly 30 years of trying. Originally called the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, the team found the going tough in arguably MLB's toughest league (featuring heavyweights like the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox). However, in recent years things have been looking up and the Rays have even developed heated rivalries with the teams from New York and Boston with several on-field scuffles taking place.
Tropicana Field
The Tampa Bay Rays play their home games at Tropicana Field which opened in 1990 and is the only non-retractable domed stadium in MLB. It is the smallest stadium in the MLB as numerous seats are usually left unused during matchday.
