Morcheeba - the legends of chilled electronica
Throughout their long musical career, Morcheeba have come to define and almost own the 'chill-out' genre. Now the band is down to a duo consisting of Skye Edwards and Ross Godfrey (Paul Godfrey left the band in 2014), yet this hasn't changed their unique, trademark trip-hop sound. Morcheeba have sold more than 10 million albums since making their debut in the mid-1990s and show no sign of stopping. Songs like "Part of the Process", "The Sea", "Shoulder Holster", "Rome Wasn't Built in a Day" and "Big Calm" have been listened to by millions of people worldwide, whether in cafes, lounge rooms, on the beach or just relaxing at home. While this is great, obviously nothing compares to going to a Morcheeba concert and hearing their best songs performed live with a full band on stage. So, what are you waiting for? Morcheeba background
Morcheeba formed back in 1994 when brothers Paul and Ross Godfrey met singer Skye Edwards at a party. The trio were soon creating tracks together and then signed to China records. In 1996, the debut Morcheeba album Who Can You Trust? was released and Morcheeba went on tour around Europe and North America. Thanks to the group's unique style and Skye Edward's soul-filled vocals, Morcheeba quickly found themselves one of the most popular trip hop groups of the 90s. Success continued to come for Morcheeba. They went on to release Big Calm (1998), Fragments of Freedom (2000), Charango (2002), The Antidote (2005), Dive Deep (2008), Blood Like Lemonade (2010) and the most recent (and last ever) Morcheeba album Head Up High (2013). Now, after the departure of Paul Godfrey, Morcheeba perform under the name Skye & Ross and released an album as a duo Skye & Ross in 2016.
With a music career spanning 22 years and millions of albums sold worldwide, Morcheeba are pioneers of British trip-hop and soul. It will be a special moment indeed when they return to play songs at a Morcheeba concert near you!
