Gabriel Iglesias - from phone sales to comic genius
The comedy of Gabriel Iglesias grew out of his tough childhood in Long Beach California. By 20 he was holding down a daytime job in phone sales while practising his comedy skills anywhere he could find an audience whether it was in tough biker bars or hole-in-the-wall booze shops. Iglesias threw in his job in 1997, taking the decision to throw everything into his comedy. This life-changing decision saw him lose his home and car but did set him on the road to eventual fame and fortune.
For ten years his career slowly gathered pace with TV sketch show appearances, speeding up in 2009 when his DVD Gabriel Iglesias: I'm Not Fat...I'm Fluffy sold over two million copies. By 2011 his Gabriel Iglesias Presents Stand-Up Revolution on Comedy Central saw him hailed as a comic genius and in 2012 he entered the world of film as a strip club DJ and drug dealer in Magic Mike. The following year he voiced Ned and Zed in the Disney Toon Studios film Planes. On his current and upcoming CV are voiceovers as Jokey in the animated Smurfs: The Lost Village and as Cuatro in the 20th Century Fox release Ferdinand.
Gabriel Iglesias - larger than life in every way
Gabriel Iglesias makes no secret of his love of food as seen in his Fluffy Food Adventures docu-comedy series. This non-scripted show co-stars fellow comedians Rick Gutierrez, Martin Moreno, Alfred Robles and G Reilly. Showing on FUSE TV in 2017 the series takes the gang on a culinary road trip across the States. They search out local flavours, gourmet curiosities, and mouthwatering dishes while indulging in celebrity interviews.
Food and his weight also featured heavily in his one-hour Netflix comedy special of 2016, I'm Sorry For What I Said When I Was Hungry. This was filmed at the Allstate Arena in Chicago over two sold-out shows. In fact, wherever Iglesias performs his shows are always sell-outs. As well as his larger than life humour Iglesias's fan base is also loyal to his choice of out-there Hawaiian shirts. Catch him and his shirts during his FluffyMania World Tour: 20 Years of Comedy with your Gabriel Iglesias tickets from StubHub.
