Estereo Picnic started out in 2010 as a one-day event exclusive only to local artists. With a growing demand for quality music festivals in the country, Estereo Picnic eventually turned into a multi-day event featuring international acts from around the world. Estereo Picnic joins the likes of other world-renowned festivals like the Glastonbury and Lollapalooza in veering away from the poppy side of the spectrum as the festival focuses on rock, alternative, grunge punk, reggae, and also electronica and hip-hop. In 2014, fans were treated to an awesome performance by one of the greatest rock bands of all time – American band, Red Hot Chili Peppers. It was an unforgettable moment especially for Chili Peppers fans when the fearsome foursome trashed the stage, opening with a funky intro jam and going straight to a cover of Stevie Wonder’s "Higher Ground", followed by their contemporary hit "Dani California". The crowd sang along to more classic hits like "Other Side", "Californication", and "Under the Bridge". Just as the band left the stage, cheering fans demanded for an encore, and they were not disappointed as the Chili Peppers went back and ended their set with their rock anthem, "Give it Away".

2017 saw Irish band Two Door Cinema Club grace the stage of Estereo Picnic, along with Glass Animals from the UK and The Weeknd from Canada. Local acts from Colombia and the neighbouring South American countries like Toto la Momposina and Romperayo also gave their dazzling performances. Estereo Picnic is celebrated by thousands of fans each year.
