Beck Hansen (born Bek David Campbell), perhaps unsurprisingly, comes from an artistic family - his father was a musician and his mother a visual artist (a regular at Andy Warhol's Factory). Beck dropped out of school in the tenth grade to play as a street busker and attend poetry slams in Los Angeles. He then moved to New York City in 1989 where he became involved in the city's Anti-Folk music scene. Two years later, Beck moved back to LA and in 1994 released his breakthrough single "Loser". Naturally, "Loser" was the lead single from Mellow Gold and it turned into an instant smash, boasting a hook that worked as an ironic underground rallying cry and a novelty crossover. Since the success of his debut album, Beck has gone from strength to strength and his consistency and experimentation has cast a remarkable shadow upon today's popular music.
Beck is married to American actress Marissa Ribisi and is also known for his religious beliefs - in 2005 he publicly confirmed that he was a second-generation Scientologist.
In his long career, Beck has released 13 albums and forty singles. Due to the mix of musical styles, often ironic lyrics and postmodern musical arrangements, Beck has been hailed as one of the most creative artists of his generation. Beck's albums include: Golden Feelings (1993), Stereopathic Soulmanure (1994), Mellow Gold (1994), One Foot in the Grave (1994), Odelay (1996), Mutations (1998), Midnite Vultures (1999), Sea Change (2002), Guero (2005), The Information (2006), Modern Guilt (2008), Morning Phase (2014), Colors (2017). Hearing Beck's music at a Beck concert is a wonderful experience and he is known for his showmanship on stage, always bringing surprises to the crowd. So, any alt-rock (or just plain music) lover, should see a Beck concert at least once in their life. Get Beck tickets today and see why this rocker is not going anywhere anytime soon.
If you love Beck and want more of the same (although that it may be difficult to find anything that is the same as Beck) we recommend you check out bands like The Flaming Lips, LCD Soundsystem and Primus.
