Ateez – eight-piece South Korean boyband
One of the K-pop scene’s harder-edged boybands, eight-piece Ateez first came to global attention in the late 2010s with an EP series named "Treasure". Famed for their energy and a darker sound that stands out in the blossoming K-pop scene, they quickly established themselves as a force to be reckoned with. The treasures of the K-pop scene
The original line-up of Kim Hong-joong, Jeong Yun-ho, Choi San, Park Seong-hwa, Kang Yeo-sang, Song Min-gi, Choi Jong-ho and Jung Woo-young came together in 2018 to form new boyband Ateez. Created by KQ Entertainment (Heo Young-saeng), the boyband was first unveiled on the VLIVE app and shortly afterwards uploaded a show to YouTube, "KQ Fellaz", which was based on their exploits in the United States. The eight-piece were subsequently given their own reality show, "Code Name is ATEEZ", on Korean channel Mnet, before releasing the "Treasure EP.1: All to Zero". In 2019 the band dropped the follow-up EPs "Zero to One" and "One to All", embarked on a worldwide tour which took in Europe and Australia, and showcased their talents at the KCON in both New York and Japan. They also emerged victorious several times on the popular music show "M Countdown", scored no fewer than three Top 40 hits on the US World Chart, and filmed reality show "Ateez Long Journey". You can both buy and sell Ateez tickets on StubHub now to see them on stage with your own eyes.
A darker-edged sound
With a darker-edged sound that embraces trap, electronica and hip-hop, Ateez instantly set themselves apart from the increasingly crowded K-pop market on their arrival in 2018. And the group are keen to show their appreciation for the fans who have come on board whenever they take to the stage, whether it’s taking requests, posing for selfies or rewarding a lucky few with gifts. Having launched the Expedition tour across America, Europe and Australia just months after first hitting the K-pop scene, Ateez are already established live performers capable of combining exquisite dance moves with pitch-perfect vocals. Their army of admirers should look forward to hearing all of the highlights from their "Treasure" EP series, including hit singles "Pirate King", "Say My Name", "Hala (Hearts Awakened, Live Alive)", "Illusion" and "Aurora". And the octet are also known for throwing the odd K-pop cover into their set list too, with the likes of Blackpink’s "Du-ddu-du-ddu" being a particular favourite.
