The Avalanches - electronic music game-changers
The Avalanches are an electronic music group from Melbourne, Australia. In 2000, the group set the music world by storm with the release of their debut album Since I Left You. Containing an estimated 3,500 samples from all genres of music, it revolutionised how music was made. Finally in 2016, after sixteen long years, The Avalanches released their new album Wildflower to widespread acclaim. Now, with two albums under their belt, The Avalanches are continuing to tour and perform around the world, including numerous shows in their home country of Australia. Here at StubHub you can find a range of The Avalanches tickets, so this is your chance to see these musical pioneers perform live in concert.
The Avalanches background
Interestingly, the roots of the Avalanches band members are in punk. Robbie Chater and Darren Seltmann were in a couple of bands together, and then Gordon McQuilten, Tony Diblasi and Dexter Fabay joined the duo and ditched the guitar for the turntable. Signing with Modular Records in 1997, The Avalanches released a debut EP El Producto and then toured with Beastie Boys and Public Enemy, in the process perfecting their spectacular live show.
The debut Avalanches album was two years in the making and the final result shows the hard-work and time that was put in. Since I Left You is a melting pot of all the band's different influences, containing thousands of samples and it sounds like a tribute to anyone who has ever made a music record. Madonna, famously protective of her music, gave her OK for The Avalanches to sample from her song "Holiday" and the album, especially in the years following its release, became hugely popular. Some of the Avalanches songs from Since I Left You include "Radio", "Since I Left You" and the unique "Frontier Psychiatrist". To say The Avalanches are talented would be quite the understatement, buy tickets to see The Avalanches in concert and see why these guys are the real deal.
The Avalanches finally release a new album
After sixteen long years, The Avalanches released their second album Wildflower in 2016. The album received universal acclaim from fans and critics and shows that, even though the band are now reduced to a twosome (Robbie Chater and Tony Di Blasi), they haven't lost any of their magic. The Avalanches started working on Wildlfower back in 2005 and the album contains numerous collaborations. The tracks "Frank Sinatra" and "Subways" both proved hugely popular.
Now, as good as The Avalanches' music is, nothing compares to seeing them perform live. They have performed worldwide, including shows at the Sydney Opera House, Laneway Festival and Electric Ballroom in London. Come see an Avalanches concert and buy The Avalanches tickets today.
